Weekend training leading up to Argus :)

This weekend has been just about training.
Saturday I did a 50km ride on my BMX (2h40 on tar road) – WHAT A BLAST!!!! I clocked 63.3km/h downhill – tucked behind my bars – only regret was there wasn’t a steeper hill so I could go faster!!!!!
Sunday I did a very slow 52 km ride (3h28 mostly dirt roads) on my MTB – LOVED IT. The last hill climb was hectically steep and I was sooooooooooooooooooo excited when I got to the top that I forgot to unclip and found myself in a heap under my bike – on my left side – so my poor leg took a knock AGAIN. The pics are the area I rode in – Natal Midlands – Petrusstroom area – above Midmar Dam.

Look for these shirts at the Argus on Sunday!

I'll be stopping along the way to hand out flyers for Sunflower and will be wearing this awesome shirt - check it out! xxxx

Road training update

Sunday 28 February I took my BMX on a road race – first time I’d ridden my new baby. What a BLAST!!!! I wanted to do the 80km Midmar to Notts but opted for the 40km Midmar to Michael House coz I wasn’t sure if my shoulder and leg would last the 80km – good choice!!!!! OMG it was AWESOME – who says you need gears to road ride? Stupidly I left my ROAG timing chip at home so there is no official time for me so I used my heart rate monitor timing instead. I did the race in 1h53:18, which I’m stoked with considering I had to just freewheel down the hills BUT the up hills were a breeze. I left LOTS of MTB and roadies behind – hee hee. I finished 50th overall and 1st in the 50-54 womens by about 30 minutes. I’m sooooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to the Argus. I’ll be stopping on route to hand out flyers so people can pledge their donations to Sunflower Foundation - it’s going to be loads of fun. I will put up banking details next week so you too can support me so watch this space xxxx

Training update and NEW Bike :)

After my crash in the 45km Wartburg MTB race last Saturday (13 February) I’ve spend this last week letting my body heal - no weight training or riding my BMX or MTB bike – weep weep. Been training on a spinning bike but the most frustrating thing is that I got my new Intense Podium Expert Cruiser on Tuesday 16 February and haven’t been able to ride it yet. It sits in my lounge just waiting ...
With lots of physio – my left shoulder came off worse – I am confident that I shall be able to do the Midmar to Notties (80km road race) on Sunday 28 on my BMX – training for Argus.
